So this is the space where the notoriously shy guitardude will post pics and tales of his soon to be completed new listening room which itself is soon to be replete with Quads, (custom) Valves and 7k-odd wreckids... (Only 86.3% filler, the rest is his Monkees collection) The man himself always claims techno-retardation when it comes to this stuff, so I thought I'd kick it off for him... Over to you fella! Go on, be brave!?

Um well no actually,
long story but suffice to say that the structural engineering required to complete this room just isn't happening at the moment.
Therefore my music room is missing in action for the foreseeable future, but I have gained a folly !

guitardude - what, incidentally is your 'structural engineering' problem/s? (You will have it being sorted, but interested as I deal with these sort of things in my real job )

Hi Owen,
Had a wing wall in the kitchen underneath acting as a bracing member (probably not very effectively ) in an east west direction of movement. This was originally underneath the now removed header tank. It was to be removed for the Kitchen renos but after consultation with wife and builder have decided to rebrace it properly and to configure the kitchen to suit, with wifes consent. Not ideal but a lot cheaper than the steel portal I was envisaging.
House originally was a 1948 build, reclad with stucco at some stage and added onto with a 2nd storey in the 70's. Listening room was downstairs on a concrete floored later addition, now moved upstairs. Gibstopping, painting, double glazing and carpets to go...
Guess what i'm doing Easter ?

I made that visit yesterday but forgot the bloody camera! A fantastic effort by GD, a gorgeous room that oozes simplicity, ambience and a casual elegance that belies the thought and effort that has gone into the system. Stunningly full, clear and enveloping sound. The stability of the Gyro never ceases to amaze and southern gospel never sounded so damn good. Well done man! Enjoy.

In time honoured tradition let me say that this thread is useless with photos I want individual pics of every lp, well you can exclude the Monkees, we all have limits.

Don't look at me for photos. This laptop doesn't recognize my new phone, and other camera is buried somewhere under assorted household junk due to renovations so somewhat stuffed at the present. Welcome to pop up for a visit anytime you like, i've got a Bob Seger album to play you....

Welcome to pop up for a visit anytime you like, i've got a Bob Seger album to play you.... That's getting pretty far north, just about passport territory for a deep south lad. Like the Nelson, Blenheim area though, who knows, one day a grey haired stranger may come a knocking. I do enjoy looking through others record collections.

Point and click GD, point and click. Prolly easiest to email pics to yourself from phone and upload from PC. This site won't play with phone or iPad as far as I can tell... It's worth sharing. I was a mite impressed.
