Prime TV tonight - 8:35pm. " This is the definitive story of the making of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, an album that has truly earned its place in the pantheon of rock music history." Still one of the biggest selling albums of all time.

and one of the best sounding pop/rock albums - as long as you get an original us pressing !

Alas I only have the fairly poor NZ pressing, but the Steve Hoffman CD version is stunning.

I haven't played them for a while but.... USA LA-pressed, KP-mastered copy.... Japanese copy.... Both textured covers with folding lyric/photo card. Can't remember where I got them, but it was in more recent times, as it was one of the albums you didn't have to buy, the music was everywhere

looks like the same us copy i have
along with a minty nz pressing and the eu boxset with lp, cd and dvd
it's not hard to find a good us copy so why bother with inferior re-issues like the current eu and hoffmans.

No prizes for guessing that the USA copy sounds better - MUCH better!

biggest shock was how bad the hoffmans 33 and 45 sounded !
very hi-fi-ish

I'm actually happy enough with the Hoffman CD although too HiFi is probably a fair critiscism. I haven't heard the LP versions mentioned but to be honest one NZ vinyl version and the Hoffman CD is all the Rumours I need. My favourite Fleetwood Mac LP would probably be " Then Play On" although I have a soft spot for "Mystery to Me" also. If you like the blues based period its hard to go past the trash can album ....

Its amazing how hard to find some of those albums are. I remember reading that Ella Fitzgeralds Gershwin songbook was the biggest selling LP of 195?, but finding an original one is not easy. Where did they all go ?
Re Sinatra: I may have a spare, will have a look, but the one to go for is the Mono one with him facing the other way.

thanks, i'll take a spare, stereo or mono, as long as it's free of snap, crackle and pop back in the 80s my local public library had the full set of ella fitzgerald songbooks ! i taped them on my then linn-nakamichi system but lost the tapes during a house move never saw those records again. whoever was buying for the library then had good taste, they also had a good selection of the now highly treasured lyrita records.

This is way too tragic to have it's own thread, but I have 5 copies of Joni's 'Blue'. 4 of 'Some Girls', 'The Smiths' & Kyung Wha Chung's Tchaik/Sibelius V. Conc's. Oh....down to 4 copies of 'Trio' (Dolly/Emmylou/Linda). All mostly s/h. Only one DSOTM, picked up recently simply because I thought I should - lost interest in Pink Floyd after their 70s albums.

'Ella Sings the Gershwin Song Book' - do you guys discuss the album, or the box set? (Sorry I'm not a deep state Jazz aficionado.) I have a mono USA copy of the LP (s/h) & many yrs back when I used to buy a bit on TrMe, happened upon this 5-LP volume box set, French pressed, sealed unopened.
