Back in the 1990s there was a company called New Zealand Audio which held an investment stake in both Plinius and Lambert Audio. The company was created specifically to seek international markets for these products. It took some time to gain the attention of international distributors but by the mid 1990s Plinius had a USA distributor in the form of Fanfare International, based in New York. Fanfare International was owned by Victor Goldstein, and in his stable was also Siltech (just beginning to make a mark), Jadis (then still owned by the original French creator) and Reference 3A (again, then still French owned by the originator). I spent my first CES in January 1997 with these companies and under the wing of Victor. Of interest also was that Victor had employed Scot Markwell, who previously had been Harry Pearson's technical guy at the Seacliff headquarters. Scot is still in the business, these days as the distributor for Kuzma in the USA. But this is about Victor.
Last week the sad news came that Victor had been taken by Covid-19. Michael Fremer wrote a very fitting obituary.
