John DeVore, on his DeVORE FIDELITY YouTube channel, goes into detail about the EMT JPA66 Mk II Preamp, which features Variable Phono Equalisation, among other things:

- 3 x MC inputs, 2 with separate high or low impedance SUTs & 1 which allows the user to connect their own outboard SUT.
- Adjustable MC impedance loading
- MM input
- Variable MM capacitance & impedance loading
- Line-stage with 2 inputs
- Balanced outputs

In other words, this is a FULL function preamp.

That's a truly superb preamp. I very nearly bought one before I got what I have. I have heard two systems based around it, one being John's one featured above. Very very cool.

Haven't heard one, and not likely to in my lifetime.
But on paper it seems like it could be my Holy Grail phono preamp, judging by the feature set and the maker.

But at AUD58,600 I'm not even sure that there would be one in NZ. Maybe Neil knows who might have one and whom I can rob!

If you listen to Mono, early 50s LPs & 78s, 50s-60s AES, pre-70s 45s, pre-RIAA RCA, Decca FFRR, etc... a suitable phono EQ preamp could be a revelation, essential even.

(Something that I never managed to get around to building was the Nardi MONOphono variable EQ phono stage - mainly for early classical or 1950s LPs.)

None in NZ as far as I know... and I am the EMT importer... My Sentec has multiple eq settings, and when you use the right one, there definitely is a 'correctness' to the proceedings.

Nice find!  Enjoyed that and thank you.  This would be a good investment if you were a totally vinyl guy and you had historical interest.  Not for me but I totally understand his passion and I am happy for him.
