So i have rescued a couple of these 'well-known' studio monitors but their 5" outside diameter drivers are missing. As a couple of speakers they'd be very handy at my workbench for rough and ready monitoring doing amp repairs etc simply because of their small size and cube shape. Problem is though, i can't find any kind of driver that's a 5" OD, even among the car entertainment stuff.
What would be great would be a couple of coaxial driver units (i guess). Anyone any suggestions? We're not talking extreme HiFi, simply because they were originally intended to be used to monitor a studio mix with consideration of the what the average end-user would quite likely end up listening to the track with....
Google and YouTube are awash with info on these units and the fact that they were a reintroduced product in 2015. The 'boxes' i have are late 70s early 80s by their appearance..

Perhaps look at Visaton drivers? Visaton.de, distributor Soundlabs in Aus. Not sure Fero.co.nz carry them. Mark Audio drivers might work, but that’s a high end thought.

So I've done some more digging and apparently there were various iterations of this box and over the course of time five different drivers were used. All of these drivers are out of production.
What is clear is that you are after a 4.5" driver.
Hope that helps.

Someone just said that if i don't do something sooner than later the wee black cubes will make great holders for a couple of potted Maiden-Hair ferns..... !

There is even a YT that takes you on a journey of doing a DIY job on a couple but this time using an active DSP internal amplifier that is then (via some clever software and WiFi/Bluetooth connection) used to EQ the units for a control room sound engineers monitoring position.... Driver dimensions seem to have become some kind of new religion. Here are a few pics of the boxes with a ruler. 5" is the outer outer diameter, 4" the through hole and screws diagonally at 4.6"... I hope the pictures show this, as best as i can photograph with so much distortion of the wide angle lens....
