i have had a few used albums that were misrepresented...
online condition is usually overstated by 1-2 points,
country of original befuddles many sellers, not helped by the likes of warners nz who would faithfully duplicate overseas covers for nz pressings, right down to the "made in usa" text.

How do you differentiate those ones? By matrix number?

if you are lucky the sleeve will have an overprint like although it may be in really tiny print and hidden, also look at the record label, catalogue number (iffy as many companies use the same number globally), the cardboard that the sleeve is made from also provides clues to origin, eg. usa covers are thicker and use whiter cardboard, nz/aus use rawer brown carboard.

yes, trio is aus.
the rickie lee jones was a triple dose of confusion;
made in usa on cover,
then pty in little type,
while on the record label, made by wea records limited.

'Pty' is always Oz manufacture, to me. Some good tips here, thanks lads. I spent most of my "free time" this Easter weekend attempting to catalogue our vinyl collection using the Discogs app. This was with a view to getting an idea of the value, and potentially specifying the collection separately on our Home Contents insurance policy. Has anyone else done this with any success? What about your vintage / esoteric / valuable hifi gear? Thankfully, the Discogs app has improved greatly since I last attempted to do this about 5 years ago - but still frustrated with the multiple pressings and releases of certain records over the years. I actually found I was getting quite good at making blink assessments, once i got about 500 or so records in! But often that "Pty" is the only giveaway. As it turns out, about 10% of the records we own are AU / NZ pressings with no previous trading history on Discogs - so they default to zero $$ value! Still, it was a bit of good nerdy fun, getting up close & personal with run-out groove etchings like this over the long weekend...
