Rang Mark today to discuss repair of my Rotel RCD 990 CD player. Very helpful, and will take it in to him next week. He advises he has a large Alsatian dog who may be roaming free! So may pay to ring or txt him before entering the property!

Still waiting on my krell irs been with him for nearlt 4 months now , im praying she will be home soon Dropped my Rotel CD player off today. Mark very busy and said he won't be able to look at it for three weeks, then pointed at a Krell amplifier in pieces on the bench and said he was putting more hours in on that than he will be able to charge for! Said he was being dicked around by Krell and had trouble getting parts! So, deano1974, doubt it will be home soon! At least he is working on it!

Mark sorted a pair of old McLaren 601 & 701 for me last year that fell from a great height. Superb guy, easy to deal with and the price was more than reasonable.

I tracked down and spoke with Mark today re a possible repair to a friend's Perraux SA80B. Same number and address, but no longer 'vintech'. Instead, amprepair.co.nz/ - focusing mainly on guitar amps now, and didn't want to know about an old Perraux;- I asked why, a nightmare? Ah, everything drifts, mosfet outputs unobtainium. I said likely driver stages, he agreed... It's just the power amp section way down in one channel, as a start. Muffled too, apparently. He put me on to a local friend of his, semi retired, I spoke with him then my friend, and they're meeting up tomorrow. A quietly friendly chap. If it all works out and and he agrees, I might publish his details later. Only name & ph for now. I'd earlier encouraged my friend to contact Perraux directly, see if they might help with schematics, service manual. Especially since I found this Perraux Facebook page showing SA80B playing from a turntable. www.facebook.com/perreaux.audio/posts/an-oldie-but-a-goodie-a-perreaux-sa80b-integrated-amplifier-manufactured-circa-1/123171324526595/Actually the initial mention from my friend, taking out of storage, owned since new, was that the phono stage was noisy. We've already investigated op-amp replacements. I've found drop-in lower noise replacements, and a source of originals. But that's for further down the track. All that by ph & email, I can't look at it in my present situation, so good that someone else will. Anybody know who else might look at older Perraux amps? (Although I did encourage my friend to try emailing Perraux again, I don't think he did. I think he should try again. Maybe it got lost... ;=})) (You'd think that if they had ancient schematics they might not mind sharing them with service techs willing to repair. They likely wouldn't?) Thoughts, please ;-) ~ Ross
