Watched this this morning during breakfast, and apart from thinking I'd love to know what was on that tremendous tree, I couldn't help thinking his place is almost as chaotic as mine!

Too messy for me to live with.

Great collection of hi end gear but what a shambles. He may be quite happy to live in that mess but you would think he would tidy it up before making a video !!!!

Like a lot of NYC Americans, he has a small house, in Guttenberg's case, a Brooklyn apartment. And I guess that his audio is confined to certain space/s, as he shares with his wife (IIRC). Fremer is similar, although in N Jersey (again, IIRC), his audio space/s are in the basement, a city urban house lowish-height basement.

I can accept it will be crowded fitting that much gear into a small space, but I have a hard time accepting the credibility of a person who for example cant be bothered sitting an amp squarely onto the rack. Maybe he feels that all that junk on the floor helps to break up standing waves

I thought Herb Reichart’s place was awesome (he also uses it to create art which is the other thing he does, he has a bench, develops film, “the ultimate ma cave”).

For those who were confused about the AUDIOPHILIAC's 'messy' apartment, here is Mrs AUDIOPHILIAC, giving some insight into what it's like to live (and both work) in a Brooklyn NYC apartment home. And why there should apparently be so much 'stuff' everywhere. New Yorkers (NYC-dwelling New Yorkers anyway) do not have the luxury of space that we have. You'd be lucky to have a spacious single floor space, let alone a 2-storey dwelling (as many NZers do). Those who do have a home on the ground floor, may also have a cramped basement (like Michael Fremer does, in New Jersey across the river) - usually for storage & heating plant. And if you also work from home (as Fremer & Guttenberg do), with literally scores of audio products coming in & out for review per year, well.... hence the amount of stuff around. PS. The man has 40+ sets of headphones!
