Ive just purchased a Matrix Sabre and its fantastic. Landed from Oz it was just shy of 3k. Its been compared to a seriously more expensively branded dac and there wsnt anything in it! Needless to say Im very pleased.

Mmmmm... what to tell. Im not sure. It was purchased on advice from a friend who has a clue. I, have NO clue re this sort of this thing. Dacs are now in my opinion one of the things that will be getting cheaper and cheaper. Theres no need for big cabinets with lots of polished or sprayed woody bits for a start! Most of the dacs Ive seen are Chinese and obviously they pay zip to their workers! The Matrix is one solid little beast thats for sure. ASR forum guys rate it highly so that was good enough for me! Not cheap though at 3k. Ive gone to a NUC plugged into the dac via a linear power supply and using Roon and Qobuz. The linear power supply made a significant difference!!.. This streaming gig is just fantastic. I played Leonard C's latest offering and I dont overly like it but its no drama as I didnt have to shell out $30 plus to find out!!

The Matrix Sabre-X Pro is pretty polished looking from the outside anyway. Such DACs are mostly made in China these days, it seems The whole chassis is extravagantly milled from a solid block of aluminium. Not the first manufacturer to do that, but a chunk of the $3k would have gone into that I expect.
