Many fond memories of his TV series but of course he was much more than that. His books of TV reviews rest well read on my shelves. His autobiographies provided many happy , amused hours of reading. Intellectually his writing left me floundering a little at times, especially on the arts, but being made to dig a bit deeper and think is no bad thing. There was a generation of Australians who fled their shores in the late 50s, early 60s, who certainly left a mark on the world.

I remember mainly his TV shows on BBC/ITV. Along with Robert Hughes, will be remembered by me as a literary & somewhat un-Australian Australian

ditto. his british tv, motor racing tv (he was a big F1 fan) and his numerous biographies. some of his best quips
On George Bush: "Delivering the State of the Union? That bloke couldn't deliver pizza."
On Arnold Schwarzenegger: "He has a body like a condom full of walnuts."
On Americans: "Why do we have America? It's the place we keep all the Americans in."
