Have a solid state amp that is too hot (Forward in the mids and highs) for my taste. (The amp is voiced for its local market which is all about voices - some would call the tone Hi Fi. My room eats bass at the best of times and although this this critter exhibits good driver control it exacerbates the light bass situation}
Looking for some advice on how to correct/change the tone. Sourced from China the amp seems well built uses Motorola transistors has reasonable power at 450w into 8 ohms weighs around 35kg. Yes I can EQ the input but would rather either have someone either rework or guide me on how to perform the required changes on the board inside the amp..

Hi James. Can you find the input capacitor on each board? I replaced the inputs caps on my Perreaux 2150b from the original Wima ones to Mundorf MKP ones.That made an enormous difference to the sound.Went from nice to great.Mids filled out,highs more delicate and extended and bass tighter, fuller and more extended as well. These ones. www.partsconnexion.com/capacitor_film_mundorf_mkp.htmlPS.Think I bought a Furutech AG-12 phono cable off you awhile ago now! Neil

might be easier to buy another amp than second guess the designer ?
what's the amp and the rest of the system ?

Brand is Autmi System is subject to continuous change Currently sounds fine Sony disc spinner Music Labs DAC SPL 2602 pre McIntosh 2255 amp Tannoy Arden 2 speakers Intention is to rework the Autmi as a learning curve - there is no surface mounted components and it seems robustly constructed with quality components. It has been voiced for KTV (Karaoke)not the full range that I crave - would suit someone who likes the Hi Fi sound exactly as it is. Mids and highs are clear and clean with no harshness, bass is fine (Just a little recessed) good attack on leading edges, pleasant sustain, plenty of detail with a good image.Perhaps similar to a Perreaux 350 with the vocals attenuated. Dont believe the original designer is still with the manufacturer - aware that the design has been evolved/constantly developed over a few years Have seen another of these feed over 460 w of undistorted sine wave into 8 ohms so it has sufficient power for most home applications

Hi james - I know more about valve amps than SS & not a great deal at that,..... Firstly, ideally you need a schematic, to understand the design. Professional techs, not to mention amateurs like ourselves, would always seek a schematic before delving into an amp. The LF is where all the power resides in an amp, so the obvious place to start is to study the PSU, its design & construction. Unfortunately/fortunately, music is much more complex than sinewaves PS. In the past, when a schematic was unavailable, I have laboriously mapped out (parts of) an amp PCB into my own schematic - now that's one way to learn! PPS. However, neilsan is right, if there is an output or input 'blocking' capacitor, it will form a high-pass filter in combo with its load, so the value of the cap will determine bass cutoff. Look for these (& associated load components).

" It has been voiced for KTV (Karaoke)"
is it some sort of pro-amp ?
