The brainchild of Flying Nun stalwart, Tex Houston. They look very nice but then again, they are pretty high-end.

Would be nice to see an independant review of them (Owen ??), but at $9K they have a fair amount of competition from more established brands. Who are the dealers for them in NZ ?

they look nice, there's a sonus faber vibe but the website leaves many Q's...
are they nz made ?
do they use bespoke drivers ?
who sells them ?

From reading the website I had assumed NZ made with drivers from one of the usual overseas driver manufacturers. Are they selling direct ?

Woofers look like a Peerless model.

Their web page only lists one model, a stand mount for $7500 free delivery in nz, plus stands if you want them at $1400.
They look the business, but as above, would like to see an independent review.

SimonB @ Wand May have heard them? If yes, Simon is an astute guide. Simon? Yep, pricey: will have to be great to compete. Tex Houston is an experienced icon, so the R&D will be thorough. Congrats on a NZ product! For me, would have to change the tweeter chrome surround to black: and/or magnetic grill (should be standard at this price?)

Yes, Tex is a really nice unassuming guy with a great set of ears. He bought the speakers round a few months ago and I was impressed. For a pretty small speaker they have very good bass extension and goes surprisingly loud without obvious compression. This was once we ditched my low powered valve amp and skinny cables. Unsurprisingly needs a transistor amp (or a very big valve one) He has done a great job with the crossover, simple but hard to spot from a listening perspective. I don't have 'at home' experience of speakers of similar price point but I think it is likely very competitive. Would love to hear them with the Pureaudio Duo. Yes, cabinets etc are made in Dunedin (I am getting my next batch of turntables made by the same people) Simon

Ref. my post in the Class D amps topic. I was at Relics Audio in Dunedin yesterday, spending a leisurely 45mins listening to their Textone demo speakers on the end of a digital set-up: Tidal > NAD C 388 + Bluos Module > Textone. I'd heard the Textone speakers previously with a Wand TT and Perreaux amp. That was only a 'quick' listen, but convincing enough to 'rate' the speakers. (playing a few tracks from my Howe Gelb 'Sno Angel album). Yesterday it was all ambient music. Starting with 'Lost and Found' (Master Tape) by Jonsi (sigur ros) and then 'The Pearl' by Eno/Budd/Lanois (a desert island disc for me) First time listen to Jonsi, so unfamiliar music (but nice recommendation Alan). Then to The Pearl, which I know backwards. The Textones were super convincing on this album. As I texted to Cooksferry, they've got them 'dialled in' now, compared to my earlier listen. imo & experience these are top shelf speakers by any measure. The NAD/Textone combo is exemplary. I'd relish hearing them with my Valve systems (Ecofan/Mapletree) and WandTT (ahem...danger, Will Robinson...) Kind thanks to Alan @ Relics - such a passionate & knowledgable musician who understands quality, rewarding music reproduction. And just great to have a quality, local audio physical showroom too. Aside - just before leaving the showroom he said his surname was Haig - it clicked: ex. The Chills etc. - legend! (then we had quick sprint down 'memory lane' influential music. So cool).
