I’ve been following Kondo Audio Note. They hosted a music listening event recently with a variety of Audio Note equipment where anyone could join. I’m always curious in terms of the speakers they use, I couldn’t identify them but posting a photo for everyone. They seem like horns in a massive custom open baffle (am I wrong?). Interesting, very much a purist choice.

At the Audio Note offices outside of Tokyo as far as I understood.

I think that there is a big 15"(?) woofer on that open baffle + hornloaded tweeter. (If they were mounted into a room wall, it would be 'infinite baffle' )

Interesting topic belbo. They look like open baffle speakers, I wonder how that worked in cinemas? After trying a number of designs, I like 2 way (with compression horn), and it seems this format is still popular, though mostly vintage gear. I suppose houses (and speakers) are getting smaller...with digital trickery becoming more accessible.

Indeed the problem with horns would be size.

My advice: Pitch for these first. You can negotiate from there

Indeed the problem with horns would be size. Not really, just standard 2 or 3 way, one pair was transmission line, the last were 10" full range in a DIY bass reflex cabinet. I've settled on the Altec 2-way...the realism of the compression horn and good bottom end from the Alnico woofer and large enclosure, but they are large. Do you have any preference for loudspeaker format?
