As noted elsewhere, I am parting with some of my collection due mainly to lack of space. This turntable is in near mint condition (it does not have a dust cover however). The only flaw is slight rubbing at the front edge of the anodised fascia where the dust cover, when it had one, rubbed against it. It comes with an SME3009/II arm, also in excellent condition, and Shure V15 IV cartridge. The turntable was completely dismantled, the chassis repainted black and lined with Dynomat underneath. It has a NOS strobe light, NOS alloy adapter (for 45's). The plinth was sanded and refinished with satin polyurethane. It is a superb turntable. The price here at DL is a firm $1000. The purchaser will also have the option, if they wish, to purchase a NOS PCB (NZ$250) and a NOS motor ($250), both or either, which would virtually future-proof this fine piece of equipment. Feel free to ask questions.

A fine turntable at a very reasonable price GLWYS. If you are interested in selling the motor I have a friend who has been after one for years ;-)

Well, as you may have guessed I am now the owner of Tony's beautifully restored Thorens TD125. I really did try to resist but have to confess to a weakness for vintage Thorens turntables. The fact that it had an equally vintage SME 3009 and Shure V15 installed tipped me over the edge. I will treat it to a new dust cover, but other than replacing some of the aged electrics it should be good for another 45 years. It will sit proudly next to my Oracle Delphi. If anyone is interested in an immaculate Dual 721 let me know asap or it will be thrown to the masses on Trade Me. Cheers Graham

Graham - the Dual 721 DD didn't float your boat, sonically? Arguably also a classic, in its way?

To be perfectly honest Owen I was very happy with the Dual 721. It has one of the best DD motors ever made, totally silent and rock steady, and all the auto functions worked perfectly. The rather light weight arm sound fine with a high compliance cartridge. I've just always admired the Thorens TD125 and when Tony's popped up I couldn't resist. I have a hard time justifying to my better half the need for two turntables, let alone three !!!! So unfortunately the 721 has to go. For some unexplained reason both the 721 and the TD125 are seriously underrated in 'audiophile' circles. Both are brilliantly engineered and built, and IMO you would have to spend silly money on a new turntable to match the sound they produce. Cheers Graham

I like the TD125 a lot, I had a TD125 MkII after my LP12 days ended.

Thanks Deano. It's good to be back. I should never have sold my TD160 which I had owned from new. It was progressively modified, as many former Audioenz members will recall, with full 'Chadwick Mods', numerous mats, Sumiko MMT arm, and Linn Valhalla PSU modified to provide 2 speeds. The TD125 is in another league however and sound fabulous just like it is.
Congratulations on your new job by the way.
Cheers Graham
