A heads up to any owners of the excellent  PM-3 who are planning to hold onto them long term.  The original ear pads while comfortable enough apparently don't have the best reputation for longevity and I recently noted on my well looked after pair minor signs of wear on one side.  The Listening Post currently still have some stock of the factory pads and now would probably be a good time to get a spare pair before they disappear for good. 
While not as simple to change as the super easy pads on PM-1 phones,  going by a couple of videos online it doesn't look a major task to swap the pads. 
Love my PM-3 and would hate to loose them because of disintegrating ear pads.

I'd imagine that if enough of them are needing to be replaced that there would be a good supply of replacement parts, so unlikely to disappear for good? Or at least a third party willing to supply some?

I like to be prepared.  Some people have tried cheap replacements from Amazon and China that unfortunately appear to change the sound , more treble and less bass.  Trouble with after market stuff is that unless it's an almost exact replicate there're are going to be differences. The pads are part of the whole on the phones and an important part of their signature.  
I had some interesting times years ago swapping around three different factory sets of pads on some of my Grados with often less than stellar results.
