ok but no forever deck, for that you want a later version that can handle metal tape. $1580 sounds cheap but budget a contingency fund of at least $1k for the inevitable maintenance that such and old, complicated deck will need.
i recall nakmad having a 1000 ?

Considering I only have about 30 pre-recorded cassettes left (and about 50 home recorded) its a bit hard to justify spending that sort of money on a deck. But it does look stunning!

Had..😒... got submerged in water at the recent Safestore fire in East Tamaki.. drying it out but I think it's toast, along with a 700. The 1000ZXL, hopefully faired a bit better being higher in the stack... most of my stuff was in storage while moving and overseas. crap happens...

arghhhhhh sorry to hear that
were they boxed ? guess gennady will be busy for the next year or three ? Almost everything was fortunately.. bagged and boxed, which saved much. ( the 700, 1000, and a B77 weren't due to size and weight..sadly. The ZXL had it's own double boxed heavy duty shipping carton, which saved it) Some of the bottom boxes were still full of water a week later, (when I got back into NZ and assessed the mess).. some impressive cardboard used!, and the Fire dept understandably had had a bit of a rummage to ensure there wasn't any flames inside my unit, which didn't help my 670ZX. Gennady will certainly tapped on the shoulder at some stage!

i've had some water disasters in the past which ruined even doubled boxing. now i have everything off the ground just in case, proved useful a few months ago when the washing machine overflowed...
