It must be difficult for them.

The Lenco looked a bit munty... Never heard of English Acoustic, no urge to, How do these small dealers stay in business ? By smelling the meat and eating the bread

For the ones doing it from home my guess is it is largely a lifestyle choice, making a bit of money and playing with some cool gear. I expect they would have a fairly loyal client base of audiofools and a network of high net worth individuals (rich pricks ) which should be a good source of referrals.

Throw in tax deductible overseas travel.

A bargain when you include the anniversary poster.

GARRARD Turntable SP25MKII www.trademe.co.nz/a/listing/4630384047I'm not the seller, but this was the first turntable I owned as a teenager in the late '60s. I also seem to recall that that was Jean Nantais's first experience with an idler drive turntable, or maybe it was the Mk I, before the Lenco Heaven madness started. ;=})) The Mk I & Mk II had heavy cast platters (albeit 10" diameter) while from Mk III on they went to lightweight pressed steel. Somewhere I have a pic of both side by side, having had both pass through my hands. Actually I still have a wrecked Mk II. Not bad as a starter turntable for someone, IMHO.

I bought a Mk3 in good cosmetic and working condition about ten years ago for $8.

I bought a Mk3 in good cosmetic and working condition about ten years ago for $8. I could perhaps offer you a Mk II platter, which might be a drop in replacement, we might need to check in person. What do you think? However, it might take me a little time to locate it ... I am awed by the amount of boxes in the garage and in rooms still needing to be unpacked! ;=}) I'll post that photo of the two platters side by side when I find it. On another PC that I need to access, still setting up the office here. Cheers! ~ RdM

But then it wouldn't be original! 🤣

$8 is about right

But then it wouldn't be original! 🤣 An entirely reversible drop-in experimental platter replacement. I can understand that it's leagues below your current setup, and may be even hard to find, like mine, but just as a curiosity. Not like a customized Citroen 2CV, oh the horror! Oh well, one day someone might be interested in it. Cheers! ;=})
