Owen Y, I have finally digested what this has been about, and belatedly would like to order one of your kits, if there are any left? Could you PM me with purchase details?
However, purchasing the US cleaner and rotisserie motor seem to present problems, from reading various posts. So, which seller is the most reliable to deal with re the US cleaner, and secondly, is there another source for the rotisserie motor, as the seller in the link given above is out of stock?
Cheers, Sub

I just checked the '6L' one that I have here - it is 312 long x 163mm wide at the base. The top flange (the critical part) is 325 x 175mm. Overall height is 265mm. (The base size is not so important. Even to top length can be varied, but the top flange width is critical for the fit of the mtr & spindle shaft fitting being made.) Hi Owen Y, lots of on line searching, the seller on the stereonet link does not ship to nz. The nearest I can find to your dimensions are some that quote a 5.7L tank, with tank top of 300 x 163 - it seems those are internal measurements, whereas yours I believe to be edge to edge measuring the flange?

Yes correct. Look for the tank model that looks like the pics on the StereoNet thread (I will repost them here soon) & the model no. on the back label "PS-30A"- it appears that this one is listed by various sellers, but may come from the same factory. I think some Oz chaps have bought off ebay & specified 220-240v (instead of 110-120vac).

Tank specifs from balk2117 on StereoNet: - Tank Material: Stainless Steel SUS304 - Heating Power: 200W - Ultrasonic Power: 180W - Frequency: 40kHz - Power Supply: AC220V 50Hz - Tank Capacity: 6 L - Time Setting: 1 - 30 minutes (LED Digital Display) - Temperature Setting: 0-80 degrees Celsius - Transducer Quantity: 3 set - Tank Size: 11 3/4 "×6 "×6 " (L x W x H) - Ultrasonic Cleaner Size: 14 1/2 "×6 3/4 "×10 3/4" (L x W x H)[/li] You may have to hunt around & communicate with seller, to find one that ships to NZ ( Citroen & rocl?) It looks like this below (same as mine): Mine has a different label, but same model no.:

The ebay seller that I bought mine off does not have any more in stock, and says not likely to in future.

Found this on TradeMe - The critical dimension is the tank top width (given above). However, that looks costly, about double what most people seem to be paying

Thanks Citroen, now registered wth Ali express, but found an identical item for US$175 with free international shipping. Have parked in my cart, but waiting for outcome of a trademe auction for 2nd hand near new item with a timer that doesn't work. I have an auto bid on it but won't know until the 24th if I win it or not. I have a timer plug that I used to use on a pump, so not bothered about the non functioning timer.

sub I'm not convinced that the TradeMe one would work. It might, but none of the dimensions in the ad fit. The tank size given might be inner dimensions, and the machine dimensions might include the handles. So none of the dimensions might be the one we need to know. As Owen has mentioned, the outer top dimensions is critical as his template slots snugly onto it. I'd ask the Trademe seller what the top outer dimensions are before proceeding.

This is the same as the one I got US$176.71 shipped. Would just confirm with the seller that its 220V version. www.aliexpress.com/item/6-5L-Digital-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-Bath-Tank-w-Timer-Cleaning-Machine/2055563425.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.243.3ZzqAY&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4_10152_10065_10151_5010011_10068_10136_10137_10157_10060_10138_10155_10062_10156_437_10154_10056_10055_10054_10059_303_100031_10099_5190011_10103_10102_10096_10147_10052_10053_10107_10050_10142_10051_10084_10083_10080_10082_10081_10110_519_10175_10111_10112_10113_10114_10183_10182_10185_10078_10079_10073_10123_142,searchweb201603_2,ppcSwitch_2_ppcChannel&btsid=5d627c36-e054-460c-bfd0-24c0c0967902&algo_expid=941f6716-9038-47a3-8f51-1174c36d32e4-33&algo_pvid=941f6716-9038-47a3-8f51-1174c36d32e4 I see a US175 ps30t but this has no heating (probably the same dimensions).

The tank dimensions given in the TM ad are inner measurements, so are pretty well spot on with those in Owens post above. from the photos accompanying the ad, the tank fits snugly inside the machine, so the measurement for the length of the machine at 16" must include the handles. The only major differences I can see from the specs given by Owen are the Ultrasonic power on Owens is 180W and the TM listing is 150W, and the heating power 200W/300W. I dont think those specs should be too significant. If if I get it cheap enough and it does not suit, well nothing lost as I can resell! thanks Citroen

Owen Y I seem to be having problems with the shaft moving and then falling out of the motor. Any ideas?
|
Post by Owen Y on May 22, 2017 17:31:31 GMT 12
Hi Citroen - it shouldn't be happening if the bearing inner is rotating freely & the shaft is loaded with a record/s. Be sure that the shaft is set up fairly level, or even sl higher at bearing end.
|
Post by Citroen on May 22, 2017 18:08:36 GMT 12
Owen Y The bearing inner being the motor end? I would've thought the motor end slightly lower?
|
Post by Owen Y on May 22, 2017 21:25:20 GMT 12
Citroen - the bearing consists of 2 parts, with balls in between - the 'inner' I meant, is the inner rotating ring - which should turn freely, smoothly. The shaft could usefully be tilted slightly higher at the bearing end, lower at the mtr end.
|
Post by Citroen on May 22, 2017 22:14:28 GMT 12
Gotcha..duh. But having read tesla's comments on stereonet solves the problem. Mine looks as if the inner ring is rotating smoothly and the outer stationary (bearing end raised), but I still get some creeping when rotating anti-clockwise. But rotation clockwise if looking from the bearing side, back towards the motor, there's none. So that's what I'll do in future.
|
Post by Owen Y on May 23, 2017 10:02:49 GMT 12
Yes that is correct - the rotisserie motor alternates direction, each time you switch on/off. Just let it rotate a bit each time, for the 'gears' to reverse direction. Choose the clockwise direction, when seen from the bearing end, looking at the motor drive hole. This way the threaded rod will not tend to 'crawl' outward, from the motor if there is any friction at the bearing.
|
Post by Owen Y on May 24, 2017 21:26:07 GMT 12
Future motor plates will incorporate a rotation arrow, like this:
|
Post by michaelw on May 24, 2017 23:48:27 GMT 12
does it matter which direction the motor rotates ? changing direction each time would even out wear and tear
|
Post by Owen Y on May 25, 2017 9:16:20 GMT 12
Because the shaft is threaded, it can tend to 'crawl', ie. move in or out, if there is any friction at the outer bearing end and/or if the shaft is not level, esp if tilting down towards the bearing end.

Guys sorry to jump in but is anyone actually selling a complete working unit? Plenty of complete units for sale, some made from ground up at great cost. A lot using readily available cleaners and adding peripherals like Owen has done. Sourcing your own US unit and adding is way cheaper. And Owen's unit is far cheaper than the others that I have seen. If Owen was to source a cleaner and motor and then add his fabricated parts for you to sell as a complete unit, then rightly the cost would double.
