The GOLDEN EAR range of floor-standing loudspeakers has turned a lot of heads since the release of the first of their Triton series in around 2010.
Co-founder Sandy Gross (formerly Polk Audio, Definitive Technology) & engineer Don Givogue (Definitive Technology) founded GOLDEN EAR with the philosophy of offering high-end loudspeaker sound for the best possible price value.
The GOLDEN EAR Triton series, with their powered subwoofers, multiple drivers & DSP-enhanced crossovers, are power-sensitive designs that excel in imaging & large scale, wide bandwidth sound.
In 2015, Stereophile reviewed the then new US$5000 (NZ$9000) top model Triton One:
" ...it's not unreasonable to compare the sound of the $4999.98 Triton One with the sounds of speakers costing tens of thousands of dollars more per pair... "
Last year, John Atkinson gave the new US$8500 (NZ$15000) Triton Reference, a similarly impressive review.
Now, a new, lower cost Triton One.R model (with only(!) 10 drivers per cabinet) has been released at US$6000 (NZ$ ??)
" The goal of the Triton One.R project was to bring the advanced technology, luxurious cosmetics and state-of-the-art performance of the flagship Triton Reference into a more compact and less expensive speaker. " (Golden Ear Technology)
Dimensions - 203 mm W x 423 mm D x 1372 mm H
Elegant designs I think, a lot of smart technology incorporated, great imaging, wide bandwidth, high efficiency & value for money - pretty persuasive offerings.
