However, some are saying that there is a pressing 'glitch' on one of the QRP-pressed LP sides. Michael Fremer investigates & concludes that it is not a big deal. Mikey has put up a PCM audio snippet of the defect, judge for yourself...

by itself inconsequential but by the vagaries of modern vinyl you can bet it won't be the only defect.
amazon us have the qrp set for $66.31usd
or the eu pressing £101.99 less vat, about £85

I had both sets(vinyl and cd) on pre order and ended up cancelling. I'm not much of a fan of listening to outtakes and works in progress and the experts(cynics) proved correct that the audio quality of the included live concert leaves much to be desired. Just went and and purchased the 2010 vinyl reissue instead and the pressing quality is fine and from memory sounds a bit better than my other copy, the 1997 Experience Hendrix release.

agree on out-takes and un-released recordings etc. there's usually good reason why they were un-released.
i never found hendrix' recordings to rate high sonically.

I'd have to disagree, a few of my favourite recordings contain alternative takes, with studio chatter, etc. Can give you more insight into the artist's nature & the recording event. Music is about the artist as well as the recordings. 'Elvis at Stax' comes to mind, interspersed with Elvis's dialogue between the takes. I've come to feel the same about 'live' recordings - the good ones are special.

I'm a sucker for outtakes and alternative versions for artists I admire. Anything I can get usually enhances my appreciation for their musical process. - Sometimes an artist is limited to the number of tracks they can put on an album, so tracks are left off. - Some tracks they (or the record company) may not think worthy can be true gems. - I often prefer acoustic versions. - I'm also a sucker for live versions. The spontaneity, the raw emotion can often be very involving, more so than on the studio versions (despite the often poorer sound quality, and distracting audience). - If they're dead, any new material is welcomed. Having said that, I'm not getting this release. The 2010 album versions of this Hendrix is enough for me!

Maybe I should think more before posting I do have exceptions to my previous post regarding outtakes etc and that prize goes to Bob Dylan. I'm a sucker in a major way for his bootleg series and have spent the last couple of weeks with the single cd version of More Blood More Tracks on constant rotation in the bedroom system. Seems every time I run through the disc I discover more delights which has prompted me to order the 6cd deluxe version (good price on Amazon.com). The only Bootleg series I don't have at least a vinyl box set for is No Direction Home. Missed that one and now far too expensive.
