2wks ago i bought a wonderful, completely reconditioned Garrard 301 from our very own tonyd. so then i need a tonearm and fortunately for me there was one on t/me. the one in the title. $550 no reserve start. i bid and yay, i won. i paid and it arrived.
meanwhile tony and i are discussing plinths, as you do, and he says to me that he has one that he might be selling sooner or later. and it's been specifically built for a 12" arm, which is what i want, eventually. and the arm comes with it. oh wow! so a little bit of thinking later and i am now the owner of 2 arms and only one plinth. i know. you can have 4 arms on a plinth. but... not me and not now. and i've still got another tt anyway.

A classic arm that rarely comes up for sale, the Origin Live Silver Mk1. Caused quite a stir back in the day, and still going strong in a mk3 version.
In this auction you will get:
- An Origin Live Silver Mk1 tonearm
- One pair of brushed steel outrigger weights made by Magna Audio.
- One heavy polished steel counterweight made by Magna Audio (in addition to the standard counterweight).
- Michell VTA adjuster and finger nut (this needs a hole diameter in you plinth of 28mm, so if you're replacing a Rega arm you'll need to enlarge your mounting hole).
This arm is in good used condition. The arm lift has a little bit of play, only when raised at the end of the record - but nothing to worry about and functions as it should (new arm lift is about $40). Just need to mention it.
The arm is based on a Rega RB250 and uses the same 222mm mounting distance as the Regas.
The arm has had a couple of outrigger type weights fitted either side of the main bearing. Great for tracking and is reversable (for more info Google 'TWL tonearm mod'). Instead of using lead fishing weights mentioned in the mod we opted for a pair of made to measure brushed steel options.
As well as the original counterweight there is also an additional, heavier (190 gram, pictured on the arm) counterweight for use with cartridges weighing in at up to 25 grams.
The arm also comes with the Michell VTA adjuster and the finger nut.
