I went to see David Byrne's Christchurch concert. It was staggeringly good - one of the great experiences of my life. It was music, art, theatre combined. The band was killer. The drum kit was replaced by 6 or 7 percussionists with harnesses that walked and danced around the stage (amazing groove from these guys). The backing vocals were exceptional and everything was mobile. It was a completely different concept to a static band. Just exceptional and totally blew me away. The guitarist and bass player were fantastic and the keyboard player held everything together. Wow!

No idea he was even here.
Spoke to a colleague today who said it was one of the best concerts he's been to, even though it was a late decision to go and so not the best of seats at Spark.
He too was impressed by the percussion section!

Hi Citroen
I'm sure he will be back in a couple of years. Highly recommended if you like that kind of thing - I'm so glad that I went. I'll be first in line for tickets next time...

sorta like this?
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

Hi foveaux Yep, exactly like that (although considerably more fun in the flesh and a different set-list). Nice! Thanks for the link

I too, have received first-hand raves about this AKL concert. Pics are coming my way.
