JICO (Nippon Precision Jewel Industry Co.) have produced their own moving coil cartridge. - With micro-ridge stylus & boron cantilever - 2mV output voltage - Ceramic & walnut wood body - MSRP US$999. Seems to be a 'real world' price. Positive Feedback have reviewed it.

the rounded body makes alignment interesting.

the rounded body makes alignment interesting. You will recall the 'Goldbug Mr Brier'

your miyajima shilabe is like that too ?

Miyajima Kansui - but yes, Shilabe is similar.. (Like most cartridges, I try to pencil-mark the top plate for alignment - & assuming that the headshell has holes in it.)

the simplicty of the sme alignment system makes irregular cartridge bodies irrelevant

The SME system with the sliding arm base, is nice & simple engineering. It assumes fixed Angular Offset & fixed Effective Length (no slots in h'shell). Thus there is just one matching Spindle to Arm-pivot distance for optimising the alignment. However, Mounting Bolt-to-stylus tip distances vary between cartridges, you'll notice. But maybe there is sufficient play/oversize in the h'shell screw holes to allow the necessary Offset Angle adjustment??

yes, cartridge bolt distance variances were painfully highlighted when i played with that koetsu a while back... zero play on headshell mounting holes whether through sheer luck or careful design, the lyra fits perfectly. the sme alignment matches perfectly with my 2 point baerwald db systems protractor.

So, what is the mm distance from the mounting hole centreline, to the SME h'shell point (where the SME protractor seems to indicate that the stylus tip should be)?

approx. 9mm
the koetsu ursuhi sat well forward
the lyra delos is about 1mm forward.
