i bought this about 6 or 7 years ago off audiogon which just about makes it the longest serving of anything i have had since i began this wickedly expensive journey. i was going to keep it forever, but... we all know the next bit. my story is this, i have an LFD NCSE amp which is wonderful. LFD also do a modestly good phono too. and then the do the LFD MCT SE. over $10000 and not a hope in hell of me ending up with one of those.
except one sat morn i was checking through t/me as we do, and lo and behold, a certain beachside auckland dealer and seller of things LFD, is giving away his demo model. almost, but not quite. but it was 1/2 new price. still a bit steep for me, so i made a slightly cheeky offer. and he accepted it! woohoo!
so then i put my walker on t/me with lots of pics and words. 2days later the auction was gone and i had an email from t/me about their rules regarding thing with OS plugs. bummer.
put it on SNA. nothing.
so now we have an NZ site and i will offer it again.
this is a serious bit of kit. i had issues with hum and solved that with a nice brand new isolating stepup transformer. did that just before the LFD surfaced. i have also replaced the 1000ohm output resistors with 450ohm vishays. i still have the originals.
it was 1st sold in 2002 according to the manual so is not young, but it was fully checked out when i had the resistors changed and runs perfectly. it has its own huge power supply. it comes with special resonance reducing something-or-others that he is still selling in the snake-oil section of his website - there's some very strange stuff in there!
this has become a bit of a novel so i'll stop and let the questions take over.
i would love $1000 and know its performance makes it worth much more, but will entertain offers. and advice too.
