In the middling future, I can see myself having two turntables set up. If nothing else changes, one will be MC and the other MM. I also own a Graham Slee Era Gold V (from when I was just MM) and Reflex C phono stages (from when I upgraded to MC). Never sold the old one
I do love the Graham Slee house sound and didn't keep my very early Perreaux SXV1 for long at all but I am now wondering about their Audiant VP3.
With the VP3, I could have both 'tables all ready to go, and a mono function - BUT the sound? Anyone doing this right now with their VP3?
Cheers, Dom

Morning Neilsan, I have not compared the P75mk3 but I used to own the Mk2 and the VP3 far superior I have also owned Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 Communicator with upgraded PSU Parasound Halo JC3 Trichord Dino MKII & III Creek OBH-15 MKII Lehman Black Cube Musical surroundings nova II To name a few and the Vp3 is better than all of these at any price point Obviously this is purely subjective as everyone hears differently but the detail it can retrieve is superb Especially bass notes www.eliteaudiouk.com/single-post/Perreaux-Audiant-VP3-Highly-Commended-Hi-Fi-NewsAlso bmc-hifi.com.au/components/preamplifiers/phono-stages/vp3Cheers Deano

I have a VP3. I have had a Project which was rubbish, and a Slee Revelation which was excellent. I currently have the Perreaux VP3 and a Benedict Audio Hothead, both of which are excellent. I have a Benz Wood and Charisma Ref cartridges and even if I upgraded those I would not need to spend any more on phono stages. Incidentally I am sure you could run two Moving Coils into the VP3 by way of using a Step Up Transformer (or Headamp) into the MM input.

@sl1210 and how did the Revelation compare to your VP3?

Hi Citroen. I can only give you an impression because it was +- 4 years ago that I heard the Slee. At the time of the Slee I was running a Benz Ace, but the Perreaux is currently powering a Benz Wood. I can only say I vastly prefer the Perreaux / Benz Wood combination over the Slee / Benz Ace. The 'Wood' is higher up the Benz tree than the 'Ace'. With these two caveats in mind I would still give the nod to the Perreaux.
(As an aside guys the Charisma Ref1 cartridge is overwhelmingly superior to the Benz Wood. I mention this because they are similar in price.)

Thanks for the input, everybody. Lots to think about. I guess I will weigh in more seriously when I actually have the second table running and the funds to change, though selling two Slees should be enough, I would have thought. D

keep both graham slees, wonderful products, like an affordable whest. Well, in breaking news (ever ... so ... slowly) Michael gets the Crystal Ball award!
As "outed" elsewhere round here, my new plinth accommodates an SME 3009 along with an Alfred Bokrand 12" Ortofon arm.
The SME will used be for mono and 78 MM carts and will feed into the Era Gold V. The Ortofon will sport a stereo MC, fed into the Reflex C.
Each Slee phono stage will have its own channel in my preamp and I can just select between the two.
When in the UK this year, the lovely folks at Graham Slee retro-fitted a mono switch to each unit and despite still using a stereo cart, I have been enjoying the fruits of this a great deal.
While a single-box solution once seemed logical, I am not yet at the point where I can find a reason to move the Graham Slee units on.

They are excellent wide bandwidth designs. I can't see myself parting with mine, and use an Elevator with it for MC carts.
However, I've recently heard the VP3 and it really is VERY good, a superb one box solution.

Can't accurately say as they were in two totally different systems, but I'd suspect on a head to head the VP3 would be my prefered choice.

The VP3 should offer some advantage, based at least on its asking price of more than double the LV-1... But then a little less than another $1000 gives you the Vinyl which is another ballpark entirely. MW has a vinyl and I think as one of the LV-1 testers can confirm the big step up that the Vinyl offers.

Hmm, saw a VP3 advertised for circa $1600, which isn’t much more than the LV-1, and assumed that is its regular retail price. But no, Rapallo list the VP3 for circa $3500! Not that far off the price of a PA Vinyl!
Have to get some prescription glasses with graduated lens, (my eye specialist says I now need glasses for driving) so haven’t got the spare dosh to hit buy now on the $1690 VP3! Plus there is Christmas shopping around the corner. Damn!

May not be of interest but I had Lloyd Peppard at Mapletree Audio build be a nice little mono/stereo box. It does either left or right channels separately, both together for full mono and both for stereo with a 4 position rotary switch. Lloyd is great to deal with and I'll admit that his product styling may not be to everyone's taste but they work well. Box isn't listed on his site but if it's of interest an email will get a prompt response. hollowstate.netfirms.com/

I have an extremely good MM phono pre that I use with my Ortofon 2M Black - a PureAudio Vinyl (yes, it is configured for MM only) I would be hard pressed to find anything better for the money. So next year when pressure on funds diminish, will seek out a SUT to suit my Denon DL103R

Strange, perhaps Deano can explain! The VP3 is listed at $1599 at two retailers on Pricespy. One is Gary Anderson in Otago - his is marked down from $1695, and the other is Rapallo, but when you click on that link it takes you to the VP3 listed for $3500+! There is also a listing, by Supra Cables, on TM for a new one at $1695.
Has a new model been released at more than twice the price of the old?
