Took some rough sawn 25mm thick planks that I had cut, using a chainsaw mill, from the macrocarpa trees I had cut down. Don’t have a thicknesses, so had to use a hand held belt sander to smooth things out, using three grades of sandpaper, then a finish sand with 120grit. Looks a bit hand hewn, but will let me get most of my CDs into one place.
The bottom 3 sheles are for books, the next 5 for CDs and the top shelf will accomodate all my small collection of cassettes. Can get 63 CDs on one shelf, So justover 300 CDs can be kept in one place. Have tapered the sides, so top shelves are not as deep as the bottom shelves.
Now have the tedious task of filling screw holes and applying a couple of coats of polyurethane - thought of Danish/teak oil, but it may come off onto CD card covers and books. Will use a satin finish so imperfections don’t show.
A lot cheaper than the similar item for sale in hifi stores!
