And for $925 staying in Christchurch. Quite a bit less than I thought it would go for. When I was considering it during the first listing I thought possibly more like $1400.

The arm would be worth quite a bit of that price.
No doubt the turntable would sound quite good, but to my mind its butt ugly!

They're a gorgeous table. I briefly considered bringing one in from HiFiDo a few years back.

Yes, lovely looking deck that one.
He was willing to accept a buy now of $999, which seems quite reasonable.
To do yourself: Plinth cost $500- 650, Feet $50-150 Donor TT $2-300, Arm $1-200, Cover $100-150?

Funny, I just find that ordinary and underwhelming to look at myself... Back to the corner I go.

Yeah, back to the naughty corner Heathen! I like its understated elegance, simple clean traditional lines. No showing off, just all business.

Indeed I too am more inclined towards the traditional Linn style of aesthetics these days....

I like the G99 a lot - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course. I like the 60s styling - James Bond probably would have had one Technically, presumably one of their most highly developed models, it appears to have one of their best, balanced platters. If I didn't already have a rim drive TT, I might have gone for it. (Unfortunately, cooksferry had too much sense to agree to be my proxy )

The TD125 has a solid, cast alloy sub-chassis that Linn owners could only dream of - until Linn brought out their UKP2k 'keel' sub-chassis, 35yrs later

Aesthetically that would suit me to a tee, but $1k is getting up there for one of these isn't it ?

IMO for $1K it would have to be in superb fully renovated and restored condition. Mine was beautifully restored by Tony to better than new with a period correct SME 3009 and V15. This model is pretty much bullet proof but is getting on to 40+ years old now so a certain amount of renovation is to be expected. I'm very happy with mine but I'm biased and have always admired the Thorens turntables particularly the TD125.

Start price now reduced to $800 which IMO is closer to its value. Go on buy it, you know you want to !!!!
