Gents,
Thought I was being clever and got cheaper transformers from RS Online but then noticed that they don't come with mounting hardware. All good I'll get some from RS, but wait, 10 units minimum order....bugger
I can get the Hammond kits from Mouser but they are pricey and I'll have to pay freight.
Any suggestions for an el cheapo method for mounting toroid transformers??
They are both 80VA and the RS recommend 70mm metal washer.
They will go in a speed controller for my Lenco which will be the first thing I've ever built by myself so stand by for a thread when all the parts arrive.

Hmmmm... Your options seem to be: - Pay the $20 or so for 10pcs ea of clamping discs + washers. - Hacksaw cut some clamping plates yourself (don't need to be round, they could be square or hexagonal) + scavenge also some rubbery material. Steel probably best (for stray EMF sinking, but thick alumin could be OK too. Plus buy a couple of galv bolts/nuts. Whadya think?

Reckon I'll come up with a scavenged option.
Rubber is no probs. Plenty at work. Metal plate I can find hack something up.
Cheers Owen.

It might pay to also glue a circular block of say MDF onto the bott chassis around the bolt, to stop the toroid from shifting around. Sized the diam of the toroid centre.

Seems a good idea - thanks Another good idea is to read the particulars when ordering transformers

Not Toroidals but ColinF tied down the EI transformers on my valve amps with cable ties. Not the most elegant solution but very sound in Zen Engineering terms. I didnt want the normal type of transformer covers made as i used to have ongoing issues in my ARC D70ii with them vibrating....
