I guess it would go well the the new Jelco tonearms.

not on the new technics plinth though.
according to one show goer the armboard is fixed to the plinth so non-technics arms have to be fixed to the rear of left side.

On potential benefit (?) of all this new founds Technicsness, is it might rekindle more interest in the brand and in particular the older SP series machines.....the down side to that is that prices seem to peg equally with interest..

Yup, Effective Length should always mean pivot-to-stylus.

Good stuff - I had to go get out my copy of Hounds of Love last night - not so great, my Dutch copy, but The Kick Inside (1978) is still an absolutely WOW!-sounding album.

My The Kick Inside - a UK EMI (#4 lacquer code) & a NZ EMI. The latter sounds much better, wider groove cut, wider dynamic range.

The Absolute Sound (Jacob Heilbrunn) adds another viewpoint on the SL-1000R:" it sailed through complex orchestral passages.... the almost supernatural speed stability allowed complicated passages to resound in full glory without any of the attendant muddiness or blurriness that can sometimes plague vinyl playback.... The Technics errs on the pristine side, which is to say that it is very uncolored and precise.... Some listeners may gravitate to a fuller-sounding cartridge... " Price - US$18,999 As Fremer says, I'd like to see someone one day, review this TT partnered with another tonearm - ie. the SP-10R + another, top-shelf tonearm. Oh, did the reviewer neglect to mention the pick-up cartridge/s used?
