i love my x100.
even with numerous firmware updates it's not the fastest camera on the block and the fixed prime lense can be limiting.
but it's so darn nice to use !

IMO you get better shots with a prime lens - better image quality of course & also bigger aperture with primes & fewer adjustments to make (no messing with zoom), ie faster photography. However, it does force you to anticipate & be faster on your feet, without the 'convenience' of a zoom. With 16-24MP image res nowadays, you can crop down later in 'post', if you can't get close enough

I've just noticed that Suzuki crops to 4:3 ratio (above) - the X100 doesn't offer 4:3 shooting ratio, does it? (only 3:2, 16:9 & 1:1 AFAIK.)

no 1:1 only 3:2 and 16:9
while confirming that thru the manual i noticed that fuji have incorrectly described the effects of colour temperature. they say 2000k is cold, 15000k warm.
lol !

My son has a X100T. I grabbed it for a few days for a closer look. What I like about it: - Independent & convenient manual adjustment of shutter speed, aperture with Auto ISO avail in Manual mode. - Big APS-C sensor in a compact body (lighter & slimmer than my 4-Thirds sensor Olympus E-M10). - EVF (electronic viewfinder) & OVF (optical viewfinder) options. - Film simulation modes. - Customisable buttons (similar to the Olympus). - I like the offset, rangefinder style viewfinder eyepiece (no more touching the LCD touchscreen with your nose )

is that some custom lense hood ? i hardly use my hood. bought it more for the adaptor ring so i can hang a uv filter off the lense and no need to worry about losing the expensive lense cap. then i found a bunch of compatible filters with no glass... so used one of those, screwed the filter in and it all fits in the standard case. ps i rang fuji asking about the compatibility of original x100 accessories with the new f camera. the reply was all bad - nothing can be carried over

fuji case and lense hood with adaptor.
ended up not using the hood as the case won't fit over it.

I can't imagine why an X100 case would not work on the F model - they are almost identical size, shape, within a mm or two. The lens is the same too AFAIK, so hood, filter ring should fit. X100 - X100F

Ah OK, yes. - Yes the rear buttons are all on the RHS now. And there is a new thumb 'joystick'. - Lenshood... the X100F I think still has the removable front ring & adapter ring + lenshood arrangement, so not sure why the difference here. - And yes, bigger battery. Faster AF, addit front finger-dial, Acros film simulation mode, higher res 24MP sensor.... Still no Image Stabilisation, or Eye-detection AF But I like it, the most compact APS-C sensor camera, fixed lens is no problem for 90% of shooting, esp 'street' style shooting.

like a quirky sportscar not perfect but is so satisfying to use looks like i'll be keeping mine for a while longer ps... remember my friend with the diy tube amps ? he has a friend with a huge diy amp, stereo, set with ss rectification, monster shuguang 211 output tubes. it's going through some wiring checks before firing up.

Actually, I didn't mean to give the impression that the X100 is quirky - on the contrary, quite conservative & a solid, reliably good image-capturer

i think its quirky. more like a poor man's leica than a canon/nikon clone

I felt confident using it. The images were real nice, the film simulation modes v cool. If only the AF was lightning quick, like a hybrid phase-detect type should be, esp in low light. The X100F addresses that to some extent I hear.
