I'm glad to see this being bought up. I'm not a fan of anything Playboy particularly, but Hefner as a man did much more than many of his contemporaries to advance the American Civil Rights Movement, argued in favour of acceptance of homosexuality and actually did a hell of a lot to empower women. Hefner lived like no other, true to himself, his choices and beliefs - and for that, I find him extremely admirable.There was more to Hefner than tits and ass and I think his life one to be applauded. Just a thought...

seriously, over the years they have had great interviews with people like martin luthur king, john lennon, stanley kubrick et al
and fine fiction from ursula k le guin, gore vidal, road dahl, margaret atwood, ian fleming, arthur c clarke et al

all true and very good of course - but the objectification of women and the promotion of their sole function being pleasure toys for men like hugh was a view which demeaned all females and many males.
