Not sure myself about the vertical turntable, but these system components from Pro-Ject look to be impressive value.... www.tonepublications.com/review/mini-marvels-from-pro-ject/Pro-Ject MaiA Integrated Amplifier. (US$499) (NZ$799) Pro-Ject MaiA CD Player (US$399) Pro-Ject VT-E Turntable (US$349) (The latter 2 not available in NZ?) Note the small size of the amp/CD components - only 206mm w x 36mm h.

Hi Owen I have this little Pro-ject MaiA CD player in my Queenstown system. The system is for CD replay only at the moment (swmbo). Its at the front of: Ecofan valve power supply (bottom right), pre-amp (top shelf: note the reclaimed Kauri sleeves), my MaiA is a black version, on top of the preamp and 6A3 Stereo amp (bottom left), to ELAC B6 speakers. The rack is TNT DIY shelves. It's an impressive little unit indeed. I also compared it to my Naim CD in my main system (Sanders) and it sounded just great. Doesn't have the 'presence' of the Naim, but thats an x10 price differential! While I admire the advances (and advantages?) of digital, as shown by this compact unit, you simply can't beat decently sized amps and speakers imho.

Now a bedroom setup with the Mapletree amps and you'll be set.

nice and compact but one is not like the others... You just had to be the one to remind me. Yeah, it bugs me to hell but it was so cheap I couldn't resist. Anyone have a silver faceplate?

you're welcome is it a good tuner ?

Its a good little tuner. Just using a twin wire aerial, and pulls in a solid enough signal, only occasionally having interference (which no doubt a proper aerial would fix).

Got to hand it to Project, any crack in the market and they're there with a crowbar. That looks like a nice little setup for some one in a small living space and probably plenty of spouse approval as well.
