Hopefully there's at least one other fan of the late and very great Mr Chesnutt who'd be interested in several vinyl reissues. www.pledgemusic.com/projects/vicchesnuttThe first two,Little and Drunk are up on both Amazon.com and Amazon UK for preorder. These two I don't have on lp so automatic buys for me. The other three I do have but depending on how good the first two are, bonus material etc, they could be worth purchasing as well. Nice to see that higher rez downloads are included rather than the mp3s that some releases still supply.

Welcome & thanks cooksferry . I really have to get into some Vic Chestnutt - sadly no longer with us. And I'm really into that Southern groove right now.

Thanks for the heads up Cooks.
I only have 4 on vinyl. Now do I really need to replace my CDs with vinyl?
Tempting but...thought it would be cheaper to do the Bundle offer for USD150 but postage was USD222, or if sent all at once in June only add USD124! No wonder you went with Amazon.

I thought about the complete bundle as well, didn't get as far as finding out freight but figured it would be high. The other thing that turned me to Amazon was the problem I had with my last New West release by Giant Sand. After getting two incredibly warped copies via Amazon UK I ended up getting a credit from them and after some correspondence with the label ended up with a good copy direct(think I posted a thread on this on AE) Returns are always much easier via Amazon but to be truthful I'm getting very careful what I now order on vinyl, looking more at SACD or DVD-A if that's an option.

With a lot of his music on Tidal HiFi and now with the possibility of Master 24/96 releases I can see my CD and vinyl buying lessening, especially as vinyl prices seem to be ever increasing.

Gave up waiting on Amazon UK to supply my pre order of Drunk so cancelled and went with Deep Discount on Trade Me. Price is about the same landed and they've supplied me with a few MoFi reissues in good time and condition. Decided to pre order Is the Actor Happy despite having a good condition original.

I'm quite happy with the first two reissues from a physical stand point, both nice and flat and quiet. The sound is what it is, mostly Vic and his guitar, pretty hard to screw that up. At this stage I'll continue getting the series . Is the Actor Happy due out on the 24th I see.

upload pictures online privatelyThree down. Is The Actor Happy arrived a couple of days ago and managed to snag a copy of West Of Rome RSD release on Amazon UK so that's on the way. In too deep to stop now so Silver Lake also preordered and just have to wait for Ghetto Bells to pop up. I already have two original copies of the latter on double 10" vinyl but bonus tracks etc are tempting on these reissues. Have to say that so far there have been no issues, fingers crossed for the remainder.

Man, you really do have it bad! I'm now only going for vinyl versions if I don't have the CD (too much music, too little dosh). And I think I have most of the CDs...

Man, you really do have it bad! I'm now only going for vinyl versions if I don't have the CD (too much music, too little dosh). And I think I have most of the CDs... I picked up the reissue cds when they came out and honestly they're fine and all you really need but there's a couple of artists with a relatively small catalogue that I go in boots and all. Chesnutt is one and the other is Jason Molina in his various guises. At one time I was heading down a similar path with Will Oldham but got to around 25 pieces of vinyl(plus cds) and pulled the plug...too many seemingly random, limited run releases and I began to find them of lesser interest as time went on. Still a couple under Bonnie Prince Billy than move in and out of my desert Island discs depending on mood etc.

Yes, I try to get my hands on any Molina et al vinyl as well (17). The only artist I try to get everything and anything on vinyl is Tom Waits (~40) but he has hundreds if you include all the compilations and bootlegs.
I'm just trying to complete my Chesnutt collection on CD with latest order of Nine High A Pallet, and just got Sweet Relief II: Gravity Of The Situation: The Songs Of Vic Chesnutt on CD.

From memory it was getting the Sweet Relief cd that led me to Chesnutt. I like the tribute set of songs that the Cowboy Junkies did (Demons). Did you get the William Schaff artwork book that came with a Molina 10" ? I procrastinated over that one for some time but managed to pick one when the exchange rate was better. I should have added Steven Wilson to my obsessive list, got a bit ridiculous there, possibly time to pull the plug.although there's a Porcupine Tree reissue or two that I'm holding out for. Had the reissue/remaster Fear of a Blank Planet turn up a couple of weeks back but managed to talk myself out of pre ordering some of the earlier releases( Signify, Coma Divine and On the Sunday of Life) that I already have with the Delerium years box sets plus previous issues.. It's an addiction.
