Stumbled on the World of Wayne You Tube channel by accident last year and have ended up following him as he works through some interesting 1/8 scale cars. These measure over 50 cm long and being mostly metal weigh in around 7 kg. The interesting thing is the high cost of purchase can be spread over some months or up to two years. Packs are sent to you monthly .
Although there are a few companies doing this scale now following the original Pocher Models lead, the best of the lot to my eyes appears to be Agora Models

as you'd expect the amount of detail makes for a museum quality car although I do find the addition of some parts like engine sounds to be gimmicky and not something I'd bother with if I could justify a purchase.
Everything is pre painted and most connections are either screw or snap fit so perfect to those who have trouble with glue and paint.
The Moss Mercedes is a great looking model and probably my pick. Building the wire wheels looks like an interesting project, similar to my Pocher Alfa that had 160 parts in each wheel.

The final stage build of the Merc
There's also a rather tasty Porsche 917
I can see room for added detail like brake lines on that one.
And here's a big scale model for one forum member, almost as large as the real thing
