I think it's marvelous that the plural of chassis is chassis. No need for an apostrophe or anything else.
I've saved a few found items over the years with a view to possibly repurposing them for audio gear. I have a few more, network gear, saved in boxes in a storage unit. But here are a few pics of stuff on shelves in my workroom. I want to buy the good old fashioned (Greenlee?) chassis punches for valve bases. Hole saws might finish a bit rough? Anyway ... Those last 3 views look like they have excellent pre-power or amp & psu possibilities. All aluminum. The fronts snap off. What to do with it ? ;=}) (The SCSI CD player has a steel chassis. Still, cute, could it be some sort of valve phono stage?)
And as above more old network gear in storage.

A lot of manufacturers prefer non-magnetic materials for chassis and casework...

Thanks! I made a quick trip to the small storage unit to see what else I had there: A pair, quite thick chassis top & bottom, perhaps good for monoblocks of some sort. Banana box for scale. I didn't take tools to disassemble, look under the covers. But I seem to have labelled them 'blank'.
Next, 1 of 3 network boxes; I don't know if the other two have the rack mount ears. University Of Auckland dates it;- I had a friend working there in IT at the time, and he alerted me to that dumpster throw out.
Nice aluminium chassis though! That front sticker peels off. Weird, you'd need to relocate the mains input to the other end to have a clean front panel. [Edit: Or is it plated steel? I'd have to have another look.]
I might be open to offers on some of those. I'm glad I saved them, but I don't know that I have time to do anything with them at this point. I mean the ones in this post. I have plans for others. And there's another one up here I must haul out of a suitcase. An aluminium mitre/drop saw base chassis!

I meant to mention earlier a thread on HiFi Haven. More Amp Construction hifihaven.org/index.php?threads/more-amp-construction.4673/I've read all 47 pages. There seems to be a hiatus in the last few weeks at end. Inspirational, great photos, discussions on powder coating, interesting comments. A one man outfit with his own ideas, evidently fixated on SE tube amps, but beautiful work. Worth a read IMO.

They get better a few pages in. Basically all the work of one man. All valve amps. Does his own powder coating. Underneath views as well. Thread is actually titled "More Amp Construction"

Another interesting and informative thread about a specific small valve amp chassis build:
Worth registering at that forum to be able to see the pictures, in my opinion.
SE EL84 monoblocks, but good useful commentary on hole drilling, & etc.

And yet another interesting thread on a chap's innovative (crazy retro if not steampunk?) SET build, 8W but well over-engineered:
Cheers!
