Anyone able to recommend a wifi extender they have had good results with. At the moment wifi in my music room is marginal at best so I tend to chew through mobile data out there. Distance from the router is around 18 metres but has to go through a couple of walls including a brick/rough cast one and the iron wall of my room. It would be nice to be able to finally use the dongle on my Cambridge universal player and stream You Tube music video and give my long suffering wife some peace.

Vodaphone had a free deal (allegedly worth $400 if you signed up for 2 years) on a "tp-link" extender. I can report that it extends okay but I think streaming by wifi is low-fi so I bought a Supra Lan cable and put it under my house. It plugs into the Lan ports on the router and streamer. Much much better sound so you might want to consider this option.

Iron walls ? Do you listen in a Faraday cage ?
What router are you using ?
My Spark supplied Huawei (a similar distance away as yours but with regular walls in between) had absolutely crap Wifi.
I tried a few extenders but they were useless, one was worse than the Huawei solo.
Being too lazy to run ethernet cables, on recommendation of an IT friend, I bought a super duper Netgear Nighthawk router when they were on special.
Instant fix ! Can now WiFi Youtube, hi-rs audio, 1080p video etc,
If I was more motivated I'd follow Peter's example, hard-wired connection FTW.

I do have Ethernet under the house but to get to my music room is across open ground, lawns , veg garden etc. Don't really want to dig a trench.
MW,walls are metal cladding as per rest of the building. The music room is an extension of a Versatile Garage. Years ago when I tried an FM radio in there the signal went to hell.
Currently running the latest Spark router. It reaches a similar distance, different direction, out to our garden table ok so maybe the cladding on the music room is the culprit.

I use something that plugs into the power socket, that the ethernet cable then plugs into, so no need for cabling.
