www.audioholics.com/news/despite-bankruptcy-onkyo-pioneer-elite-av-drives-on"Last Friday we received some tragic news when Nikkei Asia reported that Onkyo Home Entertainment filed for bankruptcy Friday, May 13th at Osaka District Court. Total liabilities have been estimated at around ¥3.1 billion ($24 million USD)" Not had much experience with the brand but sad to see it go by the wayside.

No great loss.
Onkyo hasn't been relevant for decades.
Their latest AVRs like the TX-RZ50 are mediocrity exemplified - crummy onboard signal processing, limited power output etc.

Onkyo Corp ex-Japan is not the same company that is manufacturing the TX-RZ50. The current owners of the Onkyo brand name are Voxx and Sharp. Onkyo Corp was run dry, stripped of anything viable and circled the drain for the years.

The rot was in long before the late 21 takeover by Voxx/Sharp < didn't know Sharp was still around

Sharp is a massive manufacturer - have been for a long time... whether they put their badge on the front or not is market / product dependent.

Some months ago, the Integra brand name was sold off, and combine that with the fact they where delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange last year, it doesn't come as much of a surprise. Although from what I hear, this only impacts some of Onkyo's ownership. So, they're not exactly closing up shop just yet. See here: www.klipsch.com/news/premium-audio-company-and-sharp-electronics-acquire-onkyos-home-entertainment-corporationAs someone who repairs mostly modern home audio gear, compared to Marantz and Denon, their receivers are by far the most unreliable. If you're lucky, replacement parts are only really stocked for 3-5 years, then discontinued. It's amusing that current gen Integra amps look identical from models 10+ years ago. Hell, they're probably using the same circuit/board layout too...

To answer your question, they're still unreliable as all hell. Although in saying that, they've been getting ever so slightly better...........
