It ain't cheap making stuff in NZ. My PureAudio One integrated was $9995 The old Plinius 8200was about $4500 iirc Who knows what the current Plinius range sells for, they have a historical hangup about publishing prices.

How much was the Plinous 8150? I thought that Plinius didn't like publishing prices because the NZ price was about half the overseas price.

IIRC the 8150 was around $3000~3500 ? AudioEnz used to get irate letters from mainly Yanks complaining they couldn't buy products at the published price.

What do you think is a fair price for a used 8150?

Given my pessimistic view on used prices + covid tax I'd say around $1500

Had it powered on for over ten years, working flawlessly.
Retired for about six months, and then when restarted....it didn't! ;(

That Perreaux thing needs jumpy needles...at a bank of four of them to make it look even more spectacular...

Perreaux passed through my listening den in days gone by. A pic of my cherished 200iP: Purchased $4,000, 2001; sold on TM for $1,520, 2015. (comparable depreciation to an 8150?) Was a delightful amp. At the heart of 14yrs rewarding music. (sound reproduction was improved by using a Mapletree valve pre, in my systems: 2005-15). Desired to keep it, but needed the dosh to get into my current set-up.

Man alive that was one ugly piece of engineering.. I'll say so too. However, all was forgiven when you heard its stunning performance. And, over time, it looked more than acceptable in the rack alongside Naim gear It was also available with the 'curvaceous' chrome front plate too: This caused quite a stir in the early 2000's. You have to admire Perreaux for pushing outside the usual appearance norms of that time.

Sheet o dear that's worse....lol.. But yes maybe their marketing dept were on drugs the day that was conceived. If they sold units I guess that is ALL that matters.
