Clearly not. I had to consult Dr Google to find out that it was an FM tuner. My only honest reply during lockdown.

Closest that I ever got was one of their swanky indoor FM aerials for using with the McIntosh MR71 in flatting situations, before we managed to buy our own place and get our own place and install a dedicated outdoor aerial mounted on the roof. Ironically, the dealer for magnum dynalab at the time was based out here in Titirangi (West Auckland). Are you looking at getting one of their tuners, michaelw ?

That would have been Alan Gore/The Music Room - he handled quite a bit of high end back in the day - Counterpoint, MIT, Mod Squad, VPI, Sequerra, Acoustat etc. Got a used FT-11 v2 or 3 (entry level model) en route

www.fmtunerinfo.com/reviewsM-N.html"Magnum Dynalab FT-11 (1988/$575 black, 1990/$495 silver, 1993/$545, black, silver, ad) search eBay There were three different versions of the FT-11 (not counting the two different faceplate colors) and we have not figured out all of their similarities and differences. The FM-only FT-11, like other Magnum Dynalab tuners, has an analog-style tuning knob but uses varactor tuning (the equivalent of 4 gangs) rather than a mechanical tuning capacitor, MD's typical minimalist styling"

Yes, physically distinguished by their lids.
V1 flat top
V2 vents - 2 versions - vents on left (when viewed from front), vents on right.
I got the latter.

Yes, The Music Room, that’s the one. Pretty sure his house / showroom was less than a km from where I am sitting.
Well done on the Dynalab. They do look like serious bits of kit! 😎 I would have thought your Marantz ST-17 (?) would be a very nice tuner as well!

Ears itching to try a modern analogue tuner. I tried the highly rated Kenwood KT-5020 but it didn't sound anywhere near it's top 10 status, it had better selectivity than the Marantz but was less musical. My old Revox B760 remains top dog in my FM experience.

Some esteemed tuners there that you've tried!
I've always wanted an Audiolab 8000T to match my 8000A amp but rumours of catastrophic failure has put me off.

Likewise, there was an 8000T on TM last year but it had the start of the dreaded fading LCD display. A month back there was an 8200T on TM but I don't think that is in the same class as the 8000T.

Don't you mean wowwwww
The Marantz has higher highs, more functionality - 60 presets, RDS, locks onto the station.
Magnum has better focus, killer bass, bigger soundstage. Highs are a bit muted, bare bones functionality - three mechanical presets ! It's more sensitive and selective than the Marantz, I can listen to the low powered guardband classical station again and it does a better job of separating National at 101 form the other stations in the 100s.
Not bad, it'll do until a big Magnum or other fancy tuner comes along.

A few glitches have made themselves known... The tuning meter doesn't work, important as this picks up more stations than the Marantz. I went to bed last night with the display showing 101.0, this morning it read a nonsensical 189.3 A power off/on fixed that
