Having re-setup my Mission Cyrus system in anticipation of some Argonaut speakers arriving from Germany (via sister returning permanently from the UK) I ended up with a persistent low level hum, just when I thought everything was sorted. This system has the PCM power supply, all 3 of their earliest CD players (Tda-1540, Tda-1541 and Tda-1541a S1), as well as an airport express for iTunes, and a Mission turntable. So there is plenty of places hum might come from and lots of power plugs.
I was quite disappointed as it wouldn't go away no what what combination of components was on or off.
And then it stopped.
Turned out it was the spa pool running its filter cycle and had nothing to do with the Mission Cyrus system, and it wasn't an electrical hum at all - just a low level motor vibration. Must mean my hifi ears are getting very sensitive! but at least all is well with the system ...
