Hi Cooks,
We are obviously of similar vintage as I am also future proofing everything to prepare for my next restructuring/retirement. Havent seen the ones you mention but check out the guys at tube depot, they have a heap on there and have some good specials running from time to time. I've tended to stich with EH and JJ for power tubes in recent times, more for the value side of the equation to be honest.

Whoops, just read the Link. They are a Division of Shuguang. WARNING BELLS ! Had a huge issue with Shuguang a few years back, great sound but shocking reliability. May well have improved since then but I wouldn't be shelling out the bucks myself: So please let us know how you get on.

My originals that came with the amp are labelled Melody(same as amp) but given its birth place i'd say they're Shuguang. Can't comment on their reliability as I've only run them for a few hours. The Gold Lion KT88s I'm currently using have been very reliable and I could happily go with them again but there's always the thought that a move may expose something better.

Hi cooks,
I had the thought later on that it was 20 years ago that I had the dismal run of Shuguangs and my kids aren't the same people now that they were 20 years ago, so things might well have changed for the better. Are they hugely more expensive than the equivalents ?

Psvane are very nice tubes - I have there 845s in my ASL monos. In my experience worth the extra I'm leaning towards the Psvane tubes at this stage. How has reliability been? Just have to get my cartridge upgrade done first, then onto tubes.

Yes I'm wondering about the reliability as well. Where did you get yours Beeman ? A quick search around the net seemed to yield a wild variety of prices ! Anyone tried the EAT valves ?

After much procrastination finally pushed the go button and just ordered a quad of the Psvane KT88 from Grant Fidelity. Could have got them a little cheaper from some Ebay sellers but Grant would seem to be a more reliable option although they're out of stock at the moment but more due shortly.

The waiting has ended, quad of Psvane KT88s posted from Canada today.

And the Psvane KT88s arrived today. Something to look forward on Saturday time permitting. Had my fingers crossed that they wouldn't get hit by customs so sigh of relief. Unless the customer specifies, Grant Audio now ship these without the fancy presentation box which makes them less likely to attract attention and costs at the border.
