That's the worst sort of release I could imagine and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!
What's stopping them from pressing more than 150? A price gouging exercise in the extreme...
Couldn't be more disgusted in whoever is marketing this.

Ah, le capitalisme est génial, n'est-ce pas? I see that Lili Kraus spent some time in New Zealand (not in the mythical "Aotearoa"!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lili_Krausmy.christchurchcitylibraries.com/blogs/post/lili-kraus-honoured-guest-of-new-zealand/But back to the records, my detective instinct aroused... Now if we look at the 3rd pic down from Cookferry's link, and zoom in, we can see down at the bottom of the label: 195? Remastered 2020 Parlophone Records Limited a Warner Records Group Company OK, so let's go to Discogs. We already know this is a mono recording (repackaged?) from 195? something. www.discogs.com/artist/823059-Lili-Kraus?sort=year%2Casc&limit=250&type=Releases&subtype=Albums&filter_anv=0&page=1Scroll down to 1954-55, and we can see that the Hayden Society also recorded / published all of these as well as the initial incarnation of Les Discophiles Français, mentioned there too. In fact, you can see the original DF-91 (vs photos in Cookferry's link) right here: www.discogs.com/Wolfgang-Amadeus-Mozart-Lili-Kraus-L%C5%92uvre-Pour-Piano/release/12261191So they have (presumably licensed!) merely repackaged these old recordings - look at the images in the above, they've reformatted the text. Sure, it looks nicer, but is it worth squillons? Well, art, you know, it's almost a money-shuffling enterprise... Anyway, if you want a copy of presumably or possibly the same recordings, what were master tapes like in the mid-fifties? Maybe the Hayden Society ones could be the ones to go for, but also unobtainable? For instance: www.discogs.com/W-A-Mozart-Lili-Kraus-The-Complete-Piano-Works-Of-W-A-Mozart-Solo-Piano-Works-Record-1-of-7/release/15078480However, there seems also to have been a Columbia Odyssey release. Is it perhaps the same? www.discogs.com/Lili-Kraus-Mozart-The-Piano-Sonatas-Complete-Vol-1/release/7502098Lili Kraus, Mozart – The Piano Sonatas Complete Vol. 1 8 For Sale from NZ$4.14 www.discogs.com/Lili-Kraus-Lili-Kraus-Mozart-the-Piano-Sonatas-Vol-II/release/9063011Lili Kraus – Lili Kraus Mozart the Piano Sonatas, Vol. II 3 For Sale from NZ$11.03

"and the complete piano sonatas were recorded in 1967–1968. This version is preferable to an earlier recording made for the Haydn Society in 1954," So they might be better? At least they seem available second hand, compared to the high priced ones originally mentioned. And how do the Haydn Society ones differ from the Les Discophiles Français ones of about the same year, one wonders. I know it's all a bit how many angels can dance on a pin stuff, but still... ;=})
(I'm not totally or even at all against capitalism by the way, in case my joking references above might be misinterpreted! ;-)
There are some great imaginative short fiction works there, IMO.
The only Mozart piano sonatas I have here on LP are by Christian Zacharias, 1986 EMI Electrola GmbH. Vol 2 & 4 (out of more.)
EMI digital. DMM, Direct Metal Mastering. They sound pretty good to me. But what would I know?
It would be interesting to hear other interpretations, performances, for sure.

So what's stopping them pressing 1500 of them so that more people can enjoy them?

Thanks mc001 for the groups links, especially the second. Since then, I've gone searching through my collection and found to my surprise that I had this, listening for the last 2 hours. (~ 2hrs 29 mins) So nice, calming, nicely recorded, it seems to me. In mono. Which suits, because I have a busted tweeter LH side! I had not listened to it before. This is the first time I have heard Lili Kraus playing piano. This doesn't appear to be on discogs as such, but perhaps is a remastering of something like this, which has nice images, same year: www.discogs.com/Mozart-Lili-Kraus-Willi-Boskovsky-Nikolaus-H%C3%BCbner-Les-Trios-Pour-Piano-Violon-Et-Violoncelle/release/9014356Anyway, it's been most relaxing listening to it ...
