Nice link, thank, could have been easily glanced over for the pictures;- I see they compared "So far, my experience with the Jico SAS shape has been limited to a replacement T4P stylus for a Technics MM cartridge inside the SL7 and SL10 turntables."I haven't got up to Jico SAS yet, but immediately on getting my Technics SL-6 I upgraded the stylus to a new elliptical. It does still seem a bit bass light though. Not sure why. But anyway, a similar thread with illustrations and comments on stylus shapes in my bookmarks, with perhaps even more detail: www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?t=22894

I thought I spotted a slight mistake: quote - "Any Elliptical stylus has two different radiuses – a larger diameter at the sides and a smaller diameter front-to-back." Should be the other way round maybe. Great article though - thanks.

No, it's correct;- wider at the sides, thinner front to back.
See this illustration from further down in the link, although the individual profiles above it show a better ellipse, the 'ellipse' labelled here is their line contact from above. In fact they have erroneously swapped the ellipse and line contact labels, missed labelling shibata. The individual ones above show them better.
Cheers!
