Some shocking news off the audio grapevine
After 30 years of close association, RMC will no longer be representing Naim after July 1 2021.
Focal went last year, now Naim (owned by Focal).

Wow, wonder which end pulled the plug ? My impressions would have been that RMC have done a damn fine job of representing the brand over the years ?

A big company now pushed by the bean counters, bottom line is numbers. The thought of relationships mean very little to them. Very sad. Poor old Chris.

Shocking? Really? Why do you think it's not shocking? Interested in the 'inside joke / winking emote'...

Wow, Chris is/was the best ambassador for Naim for as long as I can remember. I can't speak for their streaming stuff, but the many Naim amps I've owned have been well made, bulletproof, and Chris was Mr Service in the unlikely event that something went wrong. Naim amps have always had a special way with reproducing rhythm, that other brands haven't been able to or been interested in emulating. It was his core brand and it's a shock to me after all these years. I didn't like the Ovator speaker presentation, but as a drummer, all the Naim amps have had something about them that I found really involving (regardless of the fact that they, as a typical SS amp sound a bit 2D to my ears compared to a well designed valve amp). My brother for his part falls asleep listening to my valve pre-power, but comes to life when I crank up the Naim system.
Maybe it's all tied in to Chris losing the Australian Distribution (I thought he would have been the ideal guy for the job)? Maybe it's about shifting demographics of buyers, as geriatric long time Naim buyers like myself lose their hearing and younger buyers don't see a quality hi-fi as important to their lives? Maybe Naim's sales are moving towards lifestyle systems like Musos and Atoms? The black wall of Naim boxes with expensive racks of glowing green logos and jumbo power supplies and a very understanding Mum with her 45 year old son still living in the basement, might finally be on the way out?
