Better to try a no-kill shelter than the SPCA...

It's been 2-3 years since I caught up with them. I'll ask next time. I took these pics in 2009... a modest Philips system in a classic old A-frame house, must be nearly 50 years old. The TV is a larger flat screen now, I believe. And who occupies the couch? Truly, dogs have masters, cats have staff... I've given up on having or even living with pets, for decades now.

I've given up on having or even living with pets, for decades now. That's a shame. So many need good homes like the one you've previously provided. What stopped you RdM?

I've given up on having or even living with pets, for decades now. That's a shame. So many need good homes like the one you've previously provided. What stopped you RdM ? No, no, perhaps some misinterpretation there. That's not my place, above - that's an old friends place deep in the Waikato. They're still doing that, I think.
I did happily live in a (vegetarian) flat in the early '70s, with a delightful dog that I used to enjoy talking for runs, even, rather than walks... but he wasn't "mine".
Maybe a labrador collie cross? Or was there some alsatian in there? I forget. Anyway a very friendly dog that would even tolerate the kittens eating out of his bowl! We'd run from the bottom of St Mary's Bay Rd around the reclaimed land grass strip by the Harbour Bridge access motorway to Pt. Erin Pool, and then perhaps walk back by streets.
Briefly, some years later, I tried having a couple of puppies, living alone, but I was then working 12hr shifts and it quickly became impossible. That was the only time. Slightly later I stayed in a flat with another flatmates cat, but ever since, for several decades, I've happily lived alone and without pets, thanks very much! ;=}) The odd friend has pets - I've seen some very exotic cats! - two have a dog, I've accompanied them on a daily walk when visiting - another had an aviary. I like birds too. But in captivity?
And I think in those years since it's been quite enough to look after myself - and the odd girlfriend - and, like some other like-minded friends - no children either. Oh well!! :-) Yet, while alone again, not necessarily lonely;- friends (many also single!) and I must say forums too, provide social interaction to some extent! I think I am happily a "loner"!
(the price has gone up - I paid $23.68 in Mar 2019 for my copy from them.) To some extent perhaps extreme hi-fi reproduction of music aficionados are loners? Her home page for the book: (I read one other that I didn't like so much, though) "Here we are, having this rendezvous without having to see each other, without having to be in the same place at the same time, without having to talk or check each other out or wear decent clothes. It's loner time." Someone else has cheekily uploaded a scanned, marked copy to scribd I see, who will pester for a 30 day free sub, but you can I guess get a glimpse of a few more pages of the introduction at least if inclined. Well, that was all very meta, wasn't it? ;=})

Dog devouring an Amazon box
Once again again a great photo, and a beautiful room view. Thanks for sharing it!
I'm sorry I obscured it with my earlier reply! (I really shouldn't post when imbibing, but of course sometimes that's exactly when one feels most inclined to;-)
Yes, I fear that it's sometimes as much "in vino verbosus" as "in vino veritas" ! ;=})
I'll try to restrain myself!

We are fostering a couple of rescue pups atm, an add ran the other day with a short burst of opera that had them completely captivated. Soft dome tweeters are in danger, the centre channel has been nudged with a nose a couple of times and bounced back.
