Am weighing up some options, and indeed may not go with any of them!
I am currently using the built in stage on my Linn Pretek, but my aural memory still wishes I had a Plinius Jarrah. They are as scarce as hens teeth on the 2nd hand market and when they appear they command high prices.
the consensus here and on the old AudioEnz forum is that the Dynavector P75/3 is the way to go.
Web search seems to indicate nz price of $999, but the usual retailers seem to be out of stock, and with the way our currency is going the next shipment may well be dearer.
Searching on line I have come up with two other, currently available, phono stages -
iFi iPhono, made by Abbington Musical Research, retails here for $799; and
Clearaudio Nano V2, $525.
they are both made by top manufacturers, but their middle of the road range. Positive reviews I have found on line say they are both highly dynamic in
presentation, great bass slam, smooth treble, sweet midrange, which sounds very much like the old Jarrah.
I will be using it with a Yamaha YP-D9 TT (has highly sophisticated Micro Seiki arm) and (when it arrives) a Denon DL103R MC cartridge.
anyone had experience of using either of these phono stages? Or, any other recommendations I should have on the list?
