US or EU ? 'Cos many 75/80 re-issues sound better in the EU version, which also include downloads. Somewhat academic as I've spent my monthly allowance

Bluenote US.
Although I see that the UK site has 20% off everything.
Ordered a few, just to make postage costs worthwhile...

Well this order from Dec 2020 FINALLY arrived. Shipped 26 Jan 2021, seemed to stay in Chicago for about a month and then another month in Japan. So about 2 months after shipping this arrived.

Double boxed ? What did you get
|
Post by Citroen on Mar 25, 2021 14:37:21 GMT 12
Not doubled boxed, just a piece of scrunched up paper on top. Minor corner damage to a few. Have emailed them and could send them back but with their shoddy packing no guarantee that they wouldn't take another two months and still be damaged.

I asked if they could just send new covers, and instead they offered a refund, because they're out of stock. 😃

Got the refund a while ago, so a shout out to their service department/help center.
A job well done and a pleasant surprise.

The Tone Poets are what all records should be like.
The sound quality is excellent and the price is appropriate. I'm getting as many as I can afford, and in some cases swapping them for some of my horrible 75th Blue Notes. 80th Blue Notes generally OK, far better than most 75th but no where near as good as the Tone Poets.
Grab them while you can!

Not got any TP but have a few BN75 and BN80.
BN80 uniformly good.
BN75 varies - EU pressings are better than US !

Am looking at adding Katanga! soon. I hadn't heard it before, but the description convinced me to buy it. Smooth West Coast jazz.

Another recommended title: Stanley Turrentine "That's Where it's at" These records are really blowing me away. I thought I had a pretty good jazz collection, but it seems I've barely skimmed the surface. Based on the 10 Tone Poet records I bought, I want the whole catalog. But then I remember that I don't even remember what I already have, and most I've only listened to once. There are just so many hours in a day!
