Almost 10 years ago, I helped my niece & partner buy an integrated amplifier.
They (Classical music lovers) ended up with a REGA Brio - a great little amp, 50wpc output into 8 ohms, with typically 'lively', engaging 'REGA' sound.
In Mar this year, REGA announced a smaller, 30wpc integrated amplifier, the REGA io:
Priced at £379 / US$595 / AU$849 / NZ$?? (compared with the REGA Brio at £599 / US$995 / NZ$1625-1699).
Sounds like it sonically follows in the REFA tradition....
It sounds to me like you could do worse for around NZ$1k (?),
" It has a directness and detail level that is frankly surprising given the modest nature of the system, but all Rega systems tend to do this. "
(The EAR - 17 Jun 2020)
" ...instantly recognisable as a descendant of the Brio....It may not have the sonic sophistication of its rival and big brother, but its directness and buoyancy make for a truly compelling listen. "
