So i've just built an update PC. Hush kit case with a watercooler so i don't ever have to contend with fan noise while listening to music.... Ample plus storage, dual 4K screens, NVIDIA M4000 grahics card, Asus X99 motherboard and a six-core i7 .... it's incredible the kind of stuff you can pickup for a few bucks. My only real expense were the 2 monitors...
This will become a hack machine from which i do all my day to day stuff and no... (absolutely no Gaming although it would probably work well there)....
My collection of FLAC HiDef and ripped CDs is managed by JRiver Media Centre but my question is... what's a must-have/ 'you should try' in the software department (doesn't have to be audio related) i should consider this new for me machine? TIA

no need for third party antivirus, windows 10 defender is more than good enough. remember to update regularly. other essentials; a good internet browser - firefox, chrome, microsoft edge, mediaplayer classic to handle videos, some file unzipper like winrar, adobe reader, libre open office, also;
a password manager
vpn ?

I think you can d/l JPLAY mini for free. JPLAY works only with Windows. And JPLAY Femto is 99Euro. (Don't know how it compares with other music players but to me it sounded good straight away and there's a lot of other suggestions on the JPLAY forum.)
