Curious as to what software is recommended?

Roon is supposed to e good but the cost seems a little steep - "Life time" for close to $750 means very little in these days of potential recession and attendant company collapses.

JRiver and FooBar have been around for some time and seem ok.

Gave up counting CD titles years ago but suspect the number is under 2000 - wish to store them all (On multiple drives) for down loading onto memory cards/USB  for various portable devices.

Require uncompressed storage in a format that can be read by common devices (No special interface software required)

Intention is to play the physical discs on my main systems using the digital files in other rooms and while traveling (Which is not likely to happen for some time)

Your thoughts appreciated.

I used to use Exact Audio Copy, EAC before but now my streamer thingy does it automatically for me.

It's pretty easy to use and free.
